Chris Cooke has lived on Cortes Island for 5 years, the majority of those years being at Linnaea and Blue Jay Lake Farm; I’ve been employed as a gardener, barista, baker, carpenter, labourer, draftsperson and more. “I graduated from UBC with a degree in Civil Engineering, and would be happy to lend my acquired skills, and local knowledge to this decision making process.”
Tosh Harvey is excited to be involved in the micro grant process and says;: “I love being creative and encouraging others to pursue their own creativity.”
Oriane Lee Johnston has lived on Cortes for many years and is super-enthusiastic about the arising of an engaged younger generation here on the Island. She thought her experience with assessing proposals, among other things, could be useful and is very happy to pass the baton.
Immanuel McKenty is an avid musician, nature appreciator, and Cortesian. He’s excited to help make this a vibrant and sustainable community, that’s bursting at the seams with creativity, music and art!
Jodi Peters
Jodi Peters is the Youth Programs Manager for the CCHA afterschool programs, and she is so excited to see what creative ideas rise up from all ages of Cortes neighbours, and to see them come to life in our community!
Amber Roy
Amber Roy lives Klahoose and is in grade 7 at the Cortes School. “I love music, art, murder mystery and math, even though I’m not always good at it. I can be a device monster, and I might not look like the romantic type but on the inside I really love romance. I am a bit nervous about the give away as I’m usually more of a follower than a decision maker but I do consider it very important and I’m willing to do my part.”
James R. Snyder is a young man with hopes for the other youth on the island, looking to make the island a more interesting place.
Emma Tius lives on Cortes Island and brings her background as a youth organizer and advocate and her experience with the Death and Dying Collective to this process.
Mark Vonesch is the Director and Founder of Reel Youth and is passionate about the power of individuals coming together to use their skills and talents to make Cortes Island a better place!
Savanna Young is a seaweed enthusiast, ocean lover, pottery and bread maker. She loved to create beautiful things (food, photos, memories, projects) and share them with people. She’s excited to see all the beautiful (in any way!) projects that these Micro-Grants will support.
